    New York drivers are one step closer to cashless tolling on the MTA’s nine bridges and tunnels, now that EZ Pass tag holders no longer have to stop at a toll gate on the Henry Hudson bridge between the Bronx and Manhattan. (WNYC)

    A New Jersey state senate panel has approved a bill to direct the Turnpike Authority to roll back future toll increases meant to pay for the ARC tunnel (Star-Ledger). State Democrats say there should be hearings before diverting toll money; a Christie spokesman says partisan politics are at play (AP via Bloomberg News). The state assembly has yet to act on the measure.

    Detroit will receive a $25 million light rail grant for a 3.4-mile, 12-station light rail line connecting downtown Detroit to Grand Boulevard in New Center. (Detroit Free Press)

    The Massachusetts Port Authority board named state Transportation Secretary Jeffrey Mullan as its new chairman — the first time a cabinet member has served as head of the board.  Mullan said the move will give Massport, which runs Logan International Airport, a “bigger seat at the transportation table,” but denied any speculation that Governor Deval Patrick was trying to seize control of the board.     Honduras may pass legislation that would pave the way for its first “charter city”–a concept pioneered by economist Paul Romer. It’s either an idea so crazy that it just might work, or a hybrid form of Utopian colonialism. Either way, it will be interesting to watch. (Aid Watchers)
